Social Studies

What topics will we study in Social Studies this year?

We study A LOT of topics in Social Studies. We start with the very first people to occupy North America, the hunters and gathers that were the first ancestors of the people who would later become known as Native Americans. We focus on native people and the early explorers of the North American continent. We follow along as the Europeans begin settling the colonies, and as they declare independence from England and form the United States. We then study the government that was set up to govern the new country and compare it to the government we have today. Then we move into the expansion and growth of the new county and finally the Civil War between the North and the South. Told you, it is A LOT!

Will we do projects?

Yes, we will have projects that we will complete in class, and sometimes those projects will be graded and scored as a part of your final grade.

Will we have tests on materials covered in class?

Yes you will, but you will receive study guides to help you study. It is your responsibility to write down in your agenda the day you will have your test (you will know a week ahead) and your responsibility to study!
