The Walking Classroom Program

What is the Walking Classroom?

The Walking Classroom is a national award-winning education program that provides students and teachers with an innovative way to get exercise without sacrificing instructional time. The nonprofit program’s “Walk, Listen, and Learn” methodology capitalizes on the favorable link between exercise and cognitive function.

Why is our class the only class participating in the program here at Old Pointe?

Our classroom is the only class participating in the program because the teacher wrote a grant that allows us to have access to the materials. The materials are very costly and without the generosity of our sponsors we would not be able to participate in such a cool program. Thank you sponsors!

What happens if it is too cold or raining outside?

We will be using the track outside for most of our walks, but on rainy or days where it is just too cold to go outside, we will have a back up route to use inside the school. The walking classroom occurs 2-3 times a week, so we won't be walking every day.

Where can I find out more information about the Walking Classroom?
